This year's economic update will include be presented in the format of a conversation between Joe Santos, Ph.D., and David Chicoine, Ph.D. We are looking forward to this discussion which will be dynamic and interesting!
Joe Santos, Ph.D., Director and Professor of Economics in the Ness School of Management and Economics at South Dakota State University, where he oversees the Dykhouse Program in Money, Banking, and Financial Regulation. Joe's areas of research include financial regulation and monetary policy. He is the voice of Monday Macro (http://schooleddotblog.com), which airs on select Mondays on South Dakota Public Radio's In the Moment with Lori Walsh. Dr. Santos earned his M.A. and Ph.D. in economics from Rutgers University.
David Chicoine, Ph.D., Professor Emeritus, Economics and President Emeritus, South Dakota State University. Dr. Chicoine is a current member of the South Dakota Chamber of Commerce & Industry Board of Directors. Click here for bio
Jodi Schwan is a next-generation media leader. Based in Sioux Falls, S.D., she is the founder of Align Content Studio, providing content strategy, production and distribution to clients in a broad range of industries. She also develops and oversees Align's original content brands including Sioux Falls Business. Jodi is a former editor, broadcaster and columnist who also is a frequently requested public speaker.
Jodi will present her quarterly CEO Survey results and serve as moderator.
This year's panel discussion will focus on the theme of "Why South Dakota" and feature representatives from companies that have recently moved to the state or are in the process of significant expansion plans, along with the perspective of an investor. This moderated session will include an in-depth discussion about what led to decisions to invest, or reinvest, in South Dakota and capital opportunities that exist here.
Brian Sandvig, CFO of Valley Queen Cheese in Milbank, will be part of the panel discussion, addressing the more than $200 million, multi-year expansion project that is underway. Click here for bio.
